Randy Hansen Doesn't Cover Hendrix, He Became Hendrix

Lotho and I did not know much of Randy Hansen when he first toured except he sounds like Hendrix.  We did not discover how much he sounds like Hendrix until the show started.

From out of the darkness, you hear the guitar and immediately you know it is Hendrix.  He has the touch and he has the sound.  The lights come up a little bit and the stage is deep with thick smoke but we cannot see Hendrix, we can only hear him.  Still playing, Randy Hansen lifts out from the smoke as if rising from the dead and, with only a little bit of buzz, you swear Jimi Hendrix is alive again in front you.  We had more than a little bit of buzz and, man, Hendrix was fookin' there.

Randy Hansen did two shows for Bogarts in Cincinnati and the next was on the following night.  Frasers do not do things by halves so, of course, we have to go back ... and he blew us away all over again.

There's no funny punchline for this one as it's total reverence for the only one I have ever heard play Hendrix like he really feels it.  This video was shot at least thirty and possibly forty years after Lotho and I saw him.  No-one has ever done it better and he is still doing it, damn well.

One more ... "Angel"

He's not all that attractive physically but he's beautiful when he plays and check out how he smiles to people in the audience.  Feel it.  The cat is really there.

This and "Little Wing" are my favorites from Hendrix. I don't think I could even pick which one. I will never ever forget when Hansen rose out of that smoke. Unbeeeeeelievable!
