Hellhounds been on my trail about Socialism because I have wanted to take your money and let goats eat it, don't you know.
There's no need to go too far with what it's not as these rubbishy scare tactics have become tedious after so many years. And, no, there won't be any tanks rolling, the Army Corps of Engineers won't be bulldozing any churches, and the bottom won't drop out of the economy. We know that because ... FDR.
Bernie Sanders stands forthright about Democratic Socialism and it's nice to add the extra word but that's only window dressing because all democratic governments are socialist and that's the point of socialism and democracy since socialism always exists and democracy mediates it.
Sanders is the closest to FDR of any candidate for President I've ever heard speak and that's the highest compliment I can give him. Some say FDR was arguably the best President of the last century and you can argue if you want but you will lose. There isn't any question about it. If you really know the history, you already know that's true, like it or not as you will.
Sanders can make America strong again in the way the rest of the world will respect, just as it did once before. The man has to be immaculate because if anyone had any dirt on him they would have rolled it by now.
It's not likely anyone doubts the sincerity of what he says but maybe you question whether he can do it. There are articles with that justification previously but the main way to look at what to expect from Sanders is to review what FDR did. America stayed at high strength and mostly high respect for the next fifty years (i.e. early 30's when he took office and thirty to fifty years depending on whether you think the LBJ tax cuts were more ill-advised than the Reagan tax cuts ... both of them).
For example, when was the last time you heard about the Peace Corps except in a Tom Hanks movie. There was a time when the Peace Corps represented for the US in the proudest possible way and without anyone waving flags all over the place or shooting guns. People ask about patriotism sometimes ... well ...
Note: "Volunteers" is the Tom Hanks movie and it's amusing. With Tom Hanks in it, of course it's amusing. John Candy is in it as well.
There's no doubt in my mind and I doubt in anyone else's that Bernie Sanders will represent just as the Peace Corps has done and likely your biggest concern is whether you believe he can do it.
We have an easy answer on that one: yes, he will. FDR did the same thing, admirably.
