Sam Kinison, No-One Ever Did Angry Better (video)

What Bill O'Reilly and other amateurs don't realize with their simple rage comedy is truth is the funniest thing of all.  Sam Kinison is the all-time master of it.  Most can't take it but not because of his volume, he is too accurate in what he says.  It's the same with Lewis Black as he is laser accurate in what he says as well but maybe not quite as loud.  O'Reilly can make up silly stories all day long but truth will top it every time.

I had to stop at 45:00 into it because I was getting belly cramps from laughing.  Everything you ever wanted to do but didn't have the balls for it ... well ... Sam did.

If something really nails me, I laugh like a chimp.  I've heard them.  It sounds like a chimp.  This is as funny as anything can possibly get and this is the kind that makes your stomach hurt.  Kinison is one of the extremely few who can do that.

Troy Pierson is the murderer who killed Sam Kinison as he got drunk and then drove his pickup truck.  He crossed the centerline with it and hit Kinison's car head-on.

It took some minutes to kill him and Sam's last words were to his brother, "Why now?  I don't want to die.  Why now?"

Troy Pierson didn't even go to jail for it.

And people wonder why there is a problem with drunk driving in America.

Truth is a bitch, ain't it.

(Ed:  lighten up)

Yeah, ok ... so the Mystery Lady and I went to see Sam perform.  Another couple went with us but were curiously quiet during the performance.  It was unusual because, you can hear for yourself in the video, he was killing us.  It wasn't until some time after that we learned our friend's wife had once considered entering a convent.

There might have been some loss of trust in us regarding ideas for entertainment after that.

Yah, and we saw Stevie Ray Vaughn on the last tour before the helicopter crash.  It was absolutely grand as he was all dried out from every suck your soul out drug he had been taking.  He was newly mad-in-love and he was playing the best he ever did.

This was at Riverbend in Cincinnati which is an outdoor venue on the bank of the Ohio River.  It's a gorgeous place and one of the best outdoor venues I ever attended.  So feel that moment as it's a Summer evening, the air is warm and there's a soft breeze, and people are watching the stage from seats up-front or from blankets on the lawn behind.  Even the breeze won't blow away all the reefer in the air.

Stevie Ray was shining.  This was the kind of show in which it was a special privilege to be there as, even if things had gone differently, perhaps it would never be possible to do such a show again.  As it happened, it was not.  All these years later, it's not forgotten.  There are some shows you just don't ever forget.

Note:  sorry but it wasn't entirely decadence.  Some of it was actually fairly civilized ... but not too civilized as likely both of us were stoned ponies for this one.

So, uh, light enough for you?

(Ed:  it'll do.  Work on it)
