National Geographic:  How to See the 2017 Perseid Meteor Shower

Note:  we have one demerit for Meteor Girl since she said meteors travel faster than a speeding bullet.  The speeding part isn't necessary since we're highly confident everyone knows bullets go, like, really, really fast, man.

It looks like tonight is the night and don't even break your stride in the city ... unless it's to head out into the country to escape the city light.

The big win for you is if it turns out this is the year for a meteor storm and I've never seen one but I understand that's a spectacle you just don't want to miss.

You just need that folding chair or even better a chaise lounge plus some measure of your preferred type of bug repellent.  Some of your preferred type of bud can be an excellent embellishment as well since astronomy can be cool but then there's astronomy when you're hammered.  In that situation, a fireball is going to impress you like a burning sign from the Lord.

This is no eclipse which is over in a few minutes.  You can watch all night if you can hack it and I wish you luck with it.  Make it a night of a meteor storm, oh, Great God Mescalito.
