Mystery Lady, I Found Oxygen

We need clarity from the top:  I don't want oxygen tanks but Mystery Lady suggested maybe it's time when she heard me earlier.  I agree but only to a point since I know it would make it easier to cover any distance walking and that's a serious trial now.  It might also permit to play for longer.

The reason for resisting is only partially related to obstinacy since the situation is similar to when you start using reading glasses.  Your eyes quickly become dependent on them.

Preparation for anything is a big theme on Ithaka so I researched the matter for how it goes without insurance even though VA would most likely supply whatever is necessary.  That search turned up a relatively-small oxygen unit on Amazon for $135.  A prescription is needed for purchase and also for refills of oxygen.  I could not discern how long a tank lasts since they only saw it depends on the rate of the flow.  I didn't like that cop since they should at least have been able to say 'it goes this long at low rates and this long at high rates;' the detail beyond that isn't really that important.

Amazon:  Oxygen Essentials Kit! Includes: 15 LPM oxygen regulator, D cylinder, wrench & D shoulder carry case

The kit weighs about ten pounds which isn't trivial but it's not like the tanks Lloyd Bridges wore for "Sea Hunt" since I usually saw him with three of them.  I guess that was Hollywood since that was the only time I ever saw a scuba diver with three tanks.  He was cool, tho.  Everybody was diggin' "Sea Hunt" at the time.

Repeating:  you need a prescription for the purchase and also to fill the tank oxygen.

Note:  there's no Ithaka kickback from Amazon.  The above is presented only for the sake of information.

I do understand there's one tiny constraint regarding oxygen and smoking:  you will catch fire and explode.

This is NOT a Christmas hint.  If anything I may opt to abandon the blade and that's obviously an insult to manhood but it's just too much of a damn hassle.  It's not that I cut myself since it may even be close to impossible with modern blades but they are unbelievably expensive.  I saw electric shavers can be about twenty bucks so that looks more suitable for the Rockhouse budget.

Don't you do anything since I need to find something Yevette can do which won't break the bank.  That might be just the thing.

Something I've not well understood is these shavers which don't really shave you but rather leave the (cough) sexy stubble.  The reason for the need for the close shave is to prevent the razor burn I may give the missus.  It's not so much an increase in male sensitivity as the reduction in the potential for being an asshole.

Ed:  same thing?

Unknown but definitely eliminate the latter before pitching the former.  I love you as the breeze caresses your face, endlessly and tirelessly.  Scratch, Scratch, Scratch.  Burn, Burn, Burn.

I hear you, Doggie Daddy ... but get a shave.

If VA pays for it why not get te paperwork started since it will take forever to actually happen

I never understood smoking and lung issues. But my old neighbor still smoked even though he was on an O2 tank. He just didnt use it when he smoked .
But his choice
Looks like VA will set it up but not pay for it unless you are over 50% or it was service connected.
Maybe Medicare/Medicaid will

VA actually snaps quickly when they're on the case. The stuff which falls in-between is a problem because you've got to be in the pipeline before things start to snap.

Smoking is major addiction when it gets to that level and it's certifiably as hard to kick as heroin at that point. That's not a cop but information. I've never felt the reaction I've seen from addicts in withdrawal in a movie but that was the research I've read.

Comparing cigarettes to heroin is ridiculous. I can take you to rooms full of people who would fall out of thier chairs and roll on the floor laughing. As they have done both

This is the device I was talking about. It creates the o2, you have it to hook up to while you are in the house. Then you can use it to fill/refill a small portable tank like the one you researched for your trips out and about. None of the big tanks to have delivered or picked up--those bitches are heavy!! Good to see that you are looking into a source of help. The COPD should be enough to qualify. You dont need to go thru Amazon. ML

P.S. Sorry for the WIKI--these devices are much small now a days as you can see by this manufacturer. ML

It sounds ridiculous to me as cigarette withdrawal never did to me what I saw in the movies for addicts but that really is the pitch from one set of Freuds or another.

The WIKI is good and quite helpful since that settles how they do it. That was an excellent idea.
