"Said the Pieman"

Riddle me this, said the Pieman
as he made his yum-yum pies,
if you cannot go in circles
then you cannot draw the line
which flies to Mount Olympus,
we don't know where it starts,
and it's only when you get there
you will meet the Queen of Hearts.

Who am I, she said laughing,
You'll never guess in a thousand dreams
Life is only what you're thinking
and never what it seems.
They do it all with mirrors, she said,
it's refraction in double time,
but the only thing which matters
is can you make it rhyme.

Where is that song of blissful love,
of shining lights, cherubs dance above,
and through it all there comes the glow
of a distant heart you need to know.
And so we go, once 'round again,
it seems in front but you look and then
it dances 'round to where you were
and through the mist you know it's her.

But which way will you go
as you wander where you will.
Do you go back or side to side
or will you go forward still.

Riddle me this, said the Pieman,
as he made his yum-yum pies,
if you cannot go in circles
then you cannot draw the line.
