"Love Gone Runnin' On Home" - lefty Unplugged / Kevin Farrell

"Love Gone Runnin' On Home" is a relatively new song from lefty Unplugged / Kevin Farrell.  He doesn't come out with new ones frequently as he puts a great deal of crafting into his work and that takes time.

The reason "Love Gone Runnin' On Home" stands out is that he did not make it as he has done others.  In this one he is looking for the groove and he finds it.  A song can have a beat which is ok or it can find a groove and this is the best.  That's when your feet move and you start thinking about shaking a leg.  A beat is definitely not the same as a groove.  A marching band has a beat.  No marching band will ever have a groove ... although, if they were really, really cool, they could do it but you've got to be ultra bad-ass to get a groove out of a tuba.

I have mentioned the song previously as it's a great one and there was some comment in Chat about, man, he really needs to record this one.  That was from Shady Fleming who comes to visit the MusikCircus every so often.  She didn't know lefty so well until last night and she was diggin' him anyway but that song carried her away.

The chat went around how to record it as I love the song and, were it up to me, I'd go for the big studio recording with drums, bass, keys, the full orchestration.  Shady thought that was an awful idea as she would prefer it recorded clean as in guitar-only.  I made it more clear that I wasn't talking of orchestration to turn it into a Nickelback song but rather to use other instruments as tastefully as lefty plays the guitar and find out how it works as a stew.

Neither of us has any idea what lefty might do with it in a recording and that's what makes it interesting.  Cat didn't state a preference but my guess is she would lean more toward doing it clean but she wouldn't rule out an orchestration until she had heard it.

So, hopefully you will hear it soon.  One way you can hear it is coming to hear him next Monday.
