Buddy Rich was the self-proclaimed greatest drummer who ever lived but we listen to hear him play and hear the percussion equivalent of shredding on a guitar; it's fast as hell but generally amelodic rubbish.
Yoshiki is, by far, my favorite drummer from the last fifty years so there's no point in reviewing the skills of Buddy Rich when I don't appreciate them that much anyway.
However, he introduces one of the most turgid thoughts in music, that it must be smart to be good.
Smart music is good and you lot may well appreciate that as much or more than anyone but most or all of you still love to hear some cranker rock with a great hook. We can get all artsy fartsy about what happened to Syd Barrett but sometimes we just want Humble Pie blow the fuckin' walls down.
We will pause for a moment of silence at this time since Doc always gets misty over the Humble Pie concert in Music Hall in Cincinnati which was so abusive it got rock banned from that esteemed venue forever.
Doc was there and I was not so it seems if anyone should get misty about that show then it should be me!
I can't resist.
Kill it, Humble Pie ... I don't need no fuckin' doctor.

Music Hall allowed many rock concerts after that ban. It only lasted until they suffered funding issues
Laughing. Principles last until the money stops.
