How to Stop the Bladerunner TVs in Gas Stations and Elsewhere

Hit that button and no more news, sports scores, or ads

Some newer gas station pumps have small TVs built into them that blast ads, or even worse, the news at full volume. Here’s how you can turn that sound off and pump gas in peace.

Lifehacker:  Silence Annoying Gas Pump TV Ads With This Button

Likely you have seen or, worse, heard these annoying TV systems which work so hard to show us the only way to escape all the garish advertising is in a crypt.  However, there is an escape.

I had no idea shutting those things up was even possible until redditor Bi00hazzard pointed it out. One of the buttons on the right-hand side will do the trick. For Bi00hazard, it was the button second from the top. When I tried it out myself, however, it was the top right button worked, not the second one down (pictured above). So just start hitting buttons on the right-hand side and you should be good. Eventually the sound will stop and you’ll only be stuck with the classic soft rock and pop the station probably plays.

Presto and you're not in Bladerunner hell anymore.
