Experts Warn of Disaster from Runaway Chinese Space Station (i.e. Ran Out of Asteroids)

The 8.5-ton Tiangong-1, or “Heavenly Palace”, satellite is now out of control and is doomed to plunge into the atmosphere, a top academic has warned

Surely some of you old rocket jockeys remember Skylab which did essentially the same thing as Tiangong-1.  This time the language is breathtaking.

This is a runaway space station ... and of course it will be when it's mostly out of fuel and it's given the order to descend.  From then on it can't respond to Mission Control on the ground.  That's the same way it went with Skylab.

The station will crash to Earth and of course it will ... just like Skylab.

This will happen within months but that's just bloody rubbish since no-one knows to any confidence when it will come down and some estimates go out to a year.

The expert warns so we better watch out since surely we're screwed even when it went the same way with Skylab after which time people found pieces in most unusual places.

Zen Yogi:  were there any disasters?

Nary a single disaster, mate.

No-one knows for sure when or where the remnant core of the space station will fall to Earth but do grab your crash helmets, mates.  This is dangerous, right?
