The Story of Santa Rosa Started on Sunday Night

Santa Rosa, California

Not last night but the night before, I saw a Twitter stream from Santa Rosa in which people, one after the other, were pleading for help because the city was burning.  It was absolutely heartbreaking since all possible rescue equipment and emergency personnel were undoubtedly deployed but that wasn't enough.  As we know today, thirteen or more people died.

I've gone to the Napa Valley many times and the pure beauty of it seems like something imaginary from a movie but there I was inside it.  The last time was for a visit to the Sebastiani vineyard for an afternoon which was a delight even for someone without a huge taste for wine.  It's a dear hope the vineyard survived.

Note:  which night may be incorrect due to a measure of fog from my circumstance but the sequence I'm relating is precise.

After seeing what has happening in Santa Rosa and the Napa Valley beyond it, I thought surely this will get coverage on the news channels.  That's when I developed a case on Harvey Weinstein since there was plenty of coverage of him but almost nothing about the fires until a day later.

The Rockhouse doesn't know or care if Weinstein did the things they say he did and that debacle is symptomatic of the different type of smoke coming from the news which may be even more destructive than the hellstorm in Santa Rosa.

The fires even darken the sky over Disneyland.

Zen Yogi:  where is the Hope in this, Silas?

The Hope is in keeping your eye where it needs to be, Yogi.  The people in Santa Rosa are our people.  We have no truck with flag waving but we don't need that to see Americans are everywhere and not just in special places.  It really torques some people that I'm an American but so it goes and it's just the same as with those in Santa Rosa so of course we feel for them.

There's always the refrain of burning MSM to the ground but we know that already.  More important to observe is the fact it's incumbent on us to look harder so we know where to focus rather than being told.

Every one of the people in Santa Rosa is as much the Hope as any of us.
