America's Rancor with Russia is Only a Mask for Lack of a Domestic Plan

General "Mad Dog" Mattis hasn't exactly established himself as a master of diplomacy in foreign relations after, in effect, blaming US military debt on unbalanced spending for NATO so Europeans need to spend more.  (RT:  NATO allies must increase spending or US will ‘moderate its commitment’ – Defense Sec. Mattis)

Not surprisingly, the EU was having none of that and this was the reaction.

Europe mustn’t be pushed by the US to increase its military spending, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said.  Modern politics is also about humanitarian assistance and development, not only “raising defence spending,” he added.

“It [increasing military spending] has been the American message for many, many years. I am very much against letting ourselves be pushed into this,” Juncker said, speaking on the sidelines of the international Munich Security Conference on Wednesday.

Juncker added that he does not like “our American friends narrowing down this concept of security to the military.”

RT:  EU must not let US push it to increase military spending – Juncker

Juncker's first mistake is in calling Americans 'friends' since their only interest in Europe is as a profit center and the Pentagon has war plans for everywhere in the world.  War with the UK may not be likely but the Pentagon is ready for it or with anywhere else.  A strong Eurozone is likely perceived as a threat by the Pentagon so why should they care if it collapses.

There's no way members of the Eurozone can increase military spending even if it were warranted to do so.  The national debt levels for these countries is some of the worst in the world.  Included in the list of worst in the world is America due to a national debt level which has an extremely high level relative to the GDP, as do France, Spain, Portugal, and others.

(Business Insider:  The 17 countries with the highest levels of government debt)

Meanwhile in Russia, their national debt will be down to zero by year end.  (RT:  Russia to clear entire Soviet debt by year-end)

Russia hasn't been spending half of its tax gold on its military every year while America rarely does anything else.  Russia's debt has dropped to a goose egg and America's debt has gone through the roof with no sign spending will significantly reduce in any way.  There's not a stronger case for criminal mismanagement in the military to be made against any other country in the world.

But Fox News advises us of 'yet another case of Russian aggression' with some Russian spy ship off the East coast of the US.  (RT:  Russian spy ship 'loitering' off Virginia near world's largest naval base, officials say)

Apparently no-one advised those nong nongs at Fox News that the US and Russia have been playing naval bumper tag with each other ever since the Sixties and the reporter will likely wet his pants if he considers all the nuclear submarines off the American coasts.

The deliberate efforts in MSM to heighten tensions are just more propaganda but for whose purpose.

What single thing is gained for any of you by exacerbating military tensions with Russia.  If there's anything at all, please do throw a Comment because I don't believe any benefit exists of any kind.

The Comments here hardly ever go toward any foreign relations matters and almost always go to domestic problems which are being addressed poorly such as skyrocketing addiction to heroin, etc.
