Thumper Boucher played tonight at Cat's Art MusikCircus and he brings a whole different style. The video was not recorded tonight but it gives a fine taste of his music. Don't be thinking you have figured him out after you listen to a little bit ... believe it, you have not!
Thumper Boucher is Darrell Phillips in RL and you can find more of his music on ReverbNation. Here's a link to "Bullet Train" and check out the diverse instrumentation. Yes, he does play it himself and he has been playing a bass since he was a kid.
We love his work here because he is a musician who paints with his music and he does such a delicious job of it. A big part of the intrigue is in how much he changes styles from one song to another which makes his music all the more compelling.
Here's one more called "Saturday" and this more along a traditional line but check out the orchestration which is rich without getting fat. We do love fat synth for that big Genesis sound but that's a different thing and this is wonderful composition in a different line.
Things have been a kind of wimpy here at the Rockhouse so I did not make it to the show but I see the video and I see what I missed!
