That was one prime time gas last night even if (cough) it didn't exactly happen at prime time but rather late in the evening in recording "The Sanctuary Song." It's a milestone for me in getting "The End of the World in Fort Worth" to the point at which it plays through continuously and, most of all, makes sense.
That the recording didn't hit the highest levels of Hendrixian magnificence is just fine because anything can be played better, it's the concept which was at test and that flew by like a bee in search of the honeypot.
Right about midnight, after getting all the video tracks and audio loaded into Final Cut, there was good satisfaction because that was some serious work and getting it into Final Cut solidifies it. OK then, this accomplished something.
Also at midnight I knew if I start doing the edits now then it will be two hours before I'm even close to satisfied.
(Ed: you started anyway?)
Is that seriously a question. So I finally hit the sofa about 3:30 am with half of that going to the edits and and then next to watch it with Yevette to discover whether it actually worked. She puts up with all this crap in the noise and then I fill the place with smoke, etc. Of course I will ask her if she would like to see what came of it! That review is in another article, "The Sanctuary Song" - Validation of Full Run of the Video.
Definitely somewhat gassified this morning but that's ok. Feeling gassified the morning after significant accomplishment is no pain at all. There's only one thought: when will you do it again.
(Ed: what about doing it again then?)
Definitely on for tonight. I want it! Strangest thing as not much more than a week ago, I was so sick and weak I couldn't even lift the Galaxy Guitar and I don't even really know what caused it. Now she's flying around the Universe again and ain't that grand.
Sort of related as it looks like you were really diggin' it with the article on the Dixie Chicks yesterday and that's outstanding to see. We love the hearts in those girls! "Not Ready to Make Nice" - Dixie Chicks (video) - Anthem Song. It's a strong statement regarding politically-disingenuous patriotism in America and these girls have stood the most vicious possible test of it. What's more, they survive to tour again. We are SO damn proud of them.
