Natalie Maines plays guitar although she does not play one in this song. Martie Maguire plays either a fiddle or a violin depending on whether you're from the North or the South and she's damn good at it. Emily Robison plays the banjo and she brings great skill to that as well.
The harmonies are what make them unique and part of that comes because Emily Robinson and Martie Maguire are sisters.
