Sending Martin Shkreli to Jail for Justice or as a Scapegoat for Abuses of Big Pharma

Martin Shkreli when he was more confident of his fate

Martin Shkreli got slammed into jail Wednesday when a federal judge delivered a poetic punch line to the Pharma Bro’s Hillary Clinton jokes.

Brooklyn Federal Judge Kiyo Matsumoto revoked Shkreli’s $5 million bail Wednesday evening, saying his $5,000 bounty on Clinton’s hair was the final straw.

She said his recent Facebook post calling for someone to pluck the ex-presidential candidate’s locks during her recent book tour could “cause a reasonable person to have concern.”

New York Daily News:  Martin Shkreli bound for jail after judge revokes his $5M bail following Hillary Clinton threat

There's no reason to argue whether Martin Shkreli is an arrogant, greedy, and worthless fuckstick but apparently the punishment for that may run to twenty years in the slammer and perhaps that might even be valid for what he did but the Rockhouse has one tiny question.

Zen Yogi:  why is he the only one in court when anyone in Big Pharma does this constantly?

That's the question, Yogi.

The only reason for anyone to buy the exclusive rights to any particular medicine is to jack up the price to make a greater profit on it.  That became the stock in trade for Big Pharma and yet this case has been pursued as if he is the only one and any news of Big Pharma is largely absent in that same reporting.

Revel in the glee from the prosecutor:

Now he’ll have to fight the case from the inside — far from his Murray Hill apartment, his livestreaming computer and his cat, Trashy.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jacquelyn Kasulis said Shkreli needed to be locked up. “He’s reckless. He does not get it. He doesn’t respect the rule of law.

Perhaps our esteemed audience is aware of some rule of law regarding hair follicles but the Rockhouse has never heard of one and there can't possibly be a rule of law regarding recklessness or everyone in the "Watch Out for the Nukes" White House would be in jail for doing the same thing.

Meanwhile, there was the roar of the silent defense of Martin Shkreli by Big Pharma.  Shkreli may have expected an assist from the Big Pharma Bros but they're just leaving him to be thrown to the lions.  They seem to be well aware that any noise from anyone else in Big Pharma will only endanger their excessive profits so they're not particularly interested in Shkreli's excessive profits.

Zen Yogi:  it seems like the silent roar was telling Shkreli, "Go fuck yourself."

It does look that way, Yogi.

Zen Yogi:  there are Big Pharma Sisters as well since a woman was running the EpiPen scam

The Sisters are ever the salute to equal rights, aren't they.

Martin Shkreli even came to the defense of Heather Bresch, author of the EpiPen scam and CEO for Mylan.

Zen Yogi:  fat lot of good that did him when no-one from Big Pharma came to defend him

It probably won't surprise you to hear Bresch skated and she's living in mad luxury to this day.  Mylan has its lobbyists running cover for her in Washington.

There was a giant roar from Donald Trump in his early days about how he would put the whoop ass on Big Pharma's grotesque idea of a fair profit but what do you hear now, mates?

Zen Yogi:  crickets

I hear some bullfrogs in the mix as well but mostly they came to eat the crickets.

Here's a bit of genius from Twitter via NYN:

Bryan Kim:  my life is complete seeing Martin Shkreli go to jail

Zen Yogi:  he must not have much of a life

My thought exactly, my bear buddy.

Eugene Gu:  Martin Shkreli goes to jail, making everyone’s day. Everywhere.

Zen Yogi:  I don't even know the all-inclusive Eugene Gu

Me either, Yogi.  It looks like he speaks for a whole lot of people he will never meet or know.  That happens quite a bit on Twitter.

Tony Posnanski:  and Hillary is on a book tour. That’s poetic justice

Zen Yogi:  awww, he calls his friend by her first name and celebrates the fact even when there is no apparent relationship between the facts he presented.

He doesn't seem to be aware Clinton is on a book tour most of the time.  She never demonstrated any reason to have any confidence in her as a President but she's hell on wheels when it comes to selling books.
