There Are Worse Things than Using an iPhone for Guitar Effects

Yes, there are worse things you can do other than using an iPhone for the effects for your guitar.  There are not many worse things than that but it's definitely not the worst of them.  However, Fender, of all outfits, thinks it's a peach of an idea ... but they should have stuck to making Stratocasters.  (MacWorld:  Fender's Tone app replaces all your guitar's stomp boxes and pedals)

Some see this as cool and clever, evolution in action, but the Rockhouse has been playing with every possible effect I could afford and acquire and we recognize the trap in these patent solutions.

Consider the situation in which you're ready to play but you can't because the fucking battery is dead on your iPhone.

Glory.  Welcome to the New Age.

Consider even better when there's an iOS change and this app stops working or, worse, starts doing erratic things.

Ed:  that could never happen!

Wowzer, you really haven't been doing this long at all, have yewwww?

The worst thing about being in a rock band is waiting for the guitarist to set up and adjust—and re-adjust, and then re-re-adjust—his interminable collection of effects boxes and pedals. But now perhaps the biggest names in guitars has an app to fix all that. The Fender Tone app for iOS and Android manages thousands of pre-set guitar effects, and delivers them via Bluetooth or WiFi to Fender’s new line of Mustang GT guitar amps.

How about that for Genius in Journalism, huh.  Let's start out by insulting the most likely audience for this creepy software.

That statement also shows the author has probably never had anything to do with a band since there are many worst things about a band and the article only expresses the attitude of the chick singer.

There isn't any effects unit which provides everything you want and the Boss GT-100 has hundreds of them but there's always room for more.  Daisy chaining stomp boxes on the floor is relatively easy but good luck getting that li'l iPhone into the pattern since it ain't goin' fit.
