Fernando Alonso Tests At Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Ma'am, if you're looking for the bona fide Latin heartthrob of Formula 1, Fernando Alonso is the one.  He is also one of the most talented drivers in the world having won the World Driving Champsionship twice.

Note:  Alonso takes to the track at about 1:23:30.

Alonso drives F1 in a Ferrari this year and he was openly mocking the Ferrari team over his car radio when he advised them 'the car is stunningly slow' ... a Ferrari is not fast enough.

Elwood:  dayum, Bubba.  That boy needs a jet plane instead of a car!

Maybe so, Gus

Elwood:  why do you call me Gus?

We always refer to any Elwood as Gus.  It's like Jack gets substituted for John.  No-one knows why that happens either.

Elwood:  you forgot about Danica Patrick?

Danica who?

Fernando Alonso, Bird Killer of Indy.  (RT:  Fernando Alonso learns some crucial lessons in rookie Indy test)

On a cool, brisk day that saw racing conditions worsen by the hour, the 35-year-old Spaniard turned his first laps on an oval, passed his rookie test and is now eligible to try to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 later this month. He got Michael Andretti’s No29 car up to 222.548 mph and avoided crashing when two birds flew into his car as he turned a lap clocked at a tick less than 220mph.

Welcome to Indy, champ.

Whoops.  I guess it was poultry on the menu last night ... assuming the birds weren't completely obliterated which seems likely.

Alonso drives a McClaren Honda and told the team over open radio "I have never driven a racecar with less power". Ferrari is at the top of the pack, 2 wins by Vettel and podiums by team mate Riakkonen.

Whoops, did I charge Ferrari with that one. I knew about the radio call but may have tagged that as going back to Ferrari. That was a mistake but the call was priceless.
