America acts as much like girls about these routine bomber patrols as the Brits and it's ridiculous with the Brits since the only threat they pose in the world is to Iceland. The Tu-95 bombers are old Russian turboprop bombers and the pilots must laugh until they cry when they see Fox News popping boners like they're at the PGA Tournament.
Just as with patrols around Europe, American F-22 fighters were scrambled for the interception. F-22s were used around England as well but it must have been Yanks flying them since I don't believe they sell that one. America is just itching to start a fight with Russia.
The F-22 is what makes the comedy complete as America scrambles its fastest production aircraft to intercept the slowest, oldest bomber the Russians have got and which would be hopeless for penetration of U.S. airspace.

The group of “Bear” bombers and Su-35 jets intercepted by US Air Force off the coast of Alaska was making a “routine flight over international Pacific waters,” Russian Defense Ministry said. This didn’t stop US media from making headlines out of the incident.

There's nothing even faintly newsworthy in the story but America tries to pretend there's a real event even when nothing really happened.
