Harris Corporation Makes the Stingray for Illegal Cop Surveillance

This is seriously bad as Cadillac Man and I got into it previously about how our mutual friend works for Harris so the immediate thought is what the hell did they do to him that he would work on this.

In case you're exceptionally passive and just don't care about police harvesting data from your phone any time they feel like it, the unit and others like it pull voice as well.  The lie about only harvesting metadata is long-since gone.  (RT:  Virginia State Police’s Stingray-like device captures voice communications – docs)

Police have murdered just shy of a thousand civilians this year and yet people trust them to watch everything they do.  Judging by their behavior, it's not clear why they're ever trusted to leave their houses.  Right now a jury has just hung on a trial in which the cop shot an unarmed kid in the back (i.e. Walter Scott).  When they're not punished for misbehavior, it's no wonder they keep doing it.

It does seem they have turned the Roamin' Ol' Dog over to the Dark Side as the Stingray is one of the worst manifestations of the Orwellian police state yet.  "1984" was even made into a movie with the hope making it simple would get Americans to understand it but, as we've seen since Reagan, it didn't work.  They even had Grade "A" stars in it but nooooo.

It's not surprising when the Trump garden class of Republicans spout their inane dogma since they often don't know any better and aren't willing or capable of learning.  The Roamin' Ol' Dog is a highly-intelligent and highly-ethical individual.  When they could even subvert him as well, the times are even darker than they seemed already.

It's kind of a flippin' thing, C.M.  How could they possibly turn him.

The Stingray has been in use for years.  If you don't know what it does by now then read the damn article.  America doesn't value the Fourth Amendment any higher than recycled newspaper and good luck blaming Democrats for that (i.e. not counting neoliberals).  Republicans been getting away with it because of neoliberal passivity or straight-out collusion with neolibs.
