The Silas is highly disinclined to take out the contempt for the mainstream on the regulars so it's best if I don't do anything just yet.
My perspective may seem warped but it's highly accurate to that which is presented via the aggregate of the news channels as opposed to anything real which is exchanged between people. It's a case study in "The Marching Morons" and the book should arrive relatively soon, probably sooner than the A.W.O.L. pussy hats.
Note: I recalled "The Marching Morons" by Cyril Kornbluth as a short story but I'll be receiving a book so possibly it's an anthology with his other short stories.
None of the regulars are consumers or at least not the worst kind since you don't buy anything just to have it, regardless of your personal means. "The Marching Morons" is almost entirely focused on consumerism and some of the comedy in it is we see a privilege of the rich of that time is they don't have to consume so much to keep all the production systems alive. Therefore the people are mandated to consume various quotas of things or they are punished by even more opulence and more things to consume.
The biggest trouble with opulence is eventually you need to paint it.
Ed: oh, my ganja brother, that was so heavy
Go ahead and larf but you know it's true. Neener
The more complex the car
the easier to break it
The more silicone the star
the easier to fake
ain't a thing that's real
except the things they steal
All those things are gone
and they're never coming back
Don't it break your heart
and make you want to quit
When their only real interest
is to come and take your shit
But why did you need so much
how many toys did you need
who's this greedy child
you seek so hard to feed
So what if they will rob it
that kid doesn't have much sense
There's a better taste of freedom
on the other side of the fence
It's not just there with the richies
they do it just the same
but over here in freedom
we just don't want that game
- Some asshole
