There will be no more mercy for Trump than for Obama if he fails, like Obama, to deliver on campaign promises. Obama made wars far worse and the Affordable Care Act was not affordable for millions, me among them.
Trump made his first known move as President by signing an executive order to end Obamacare immediately. (Ithaka: Trump signs order to 'ease burden of Obamacare' before it can be replaced)
The Rockhouse would already be moving to a war footing but the wording of the order is vague although it appears headed toward offloading responsibility to the states and that's one more item toward the argument the Union has no basis for survival. Those are countered by the mechanical processes (i.e. military bases) which hold together the Union arbitrarily but in combination with the desire for real or imagined improved national defense which, to some extent, unites it. (Ithaka: About States Rights and State-Level Military Pork Barrels)
The Affordable Care Act has been a contradiction in terms from the start because medical care is not affordable in America and hasn't been for decades as we have seen by families destroyed by catastrophic medical costs incurred by a member of that family and it's happened multiple times.
Frankly, what we're seeing in this one really isn't much of anything but it appears to presage just another hat dance. Handing this off to the states has an inevitable result as there was a report yesterday of the rise in California's budget deficit and such is always the effect when Federal taxes don't pay the freight.
This is specifically not what he promised since he said there will be coverage for everyone.
We do not have enough evidence for a conviction but the Rockhouse is sharpening its knives. Do not toy with us since we have played this game already and won't put up with it again; neither will millions of others (e.g. the twenty to thirty million for whom Obamacare was extended plus likely as many more again who never saw anything from it).
Ed: Judge Roy Bean said a man deserved a fair trial before Bean hung him but he would get hung anyway.
We don't even need to make any silly puns on his name since we want to see what he will do and we still don't know.
Make no mistake of the urgency of a real fix since this is the third Presidential strike after Obama said he would do it and didn't; Clinton made promises she couldn't possibly keep with extending Obamacare to everyone; Trump steps up and ... it still isn't really clear what he will do.
Ed: you're just a hangman then!
In fact, I'm not. Justice is blind and we couldn't care less about physical attributes, party profile, or any other damn thing about a President or one who wants to be; we look only at their actions. We don't currently have enough evidence for a conviction but neither do we have enough for an endorsement.
We can't take vagaries to the doctor and we want to see his cards.
Ed: the Q-libs will line up to say, "I told you so!"
They also told me Clinton could extend Obamacare to everyone but that was to go on top of a twenty trillion dollar national debt so it was ludicrous to believe it was achievable while still stoking the military like Casey Jones when he was riding that train.
Ed: Casey was high on cocaine!
That he was.

Not sure why California's deficit is a problem caused by the federal taxes. I wouls say it is caused by California's overspending thier income.
Many states have flat budgets and more have a budget surplus. I assume that that is because they spend less than thier revenues. Not because they receive a greater greater of federal tax revenues.
Tennesee sends all students to a minimum of a two college or tech school. Free. Of you are over 26,you qualify for a living expenses grant, to help. We have scholarships that allow any qualifying student to attend University if they maintain a 3.0GPA that scholarship is continued.
TennCare provides healthcare based on need. We have multiple need based programs on addition to federal program for assistance to families for trying to get back on thier feet.
And with no income tax and a lower sales tax than many sales California included
Does it make a difference that the Governor of the state is a billionaire that runs the state like a business.
It's my observation there's a see-saw effect with Fed / state taxes since typically pushing the Fed taxes down pushes the state taxes up but I haven't researched that specifically.
I get it that no-one gets a credit card at the Fed or state level as irresponsible spending comes out the same.
I can't really say about billionaires since Soros was just noted and he's got scads of money but I doubt anyone wants him for a Governor.
The foremost driver for the moment was the news of that one-day-old baby freezing to death and, of course, that's just as unacceptable to you. I do not have the specific why and maybe there's a further twist since I think reefer is legal in Oregon so where did those tax dollars go.
He has to be a solid business mind AND want to make changes for the best
Soros is only a business mind.
You made the statement Fed not paying the freight. It is not the Feds job to balance California's spending. Hell they cant control its own spending.
I would need to do more research one why one day old freezes. Did the Mom seek medical care? Or a womens shelter.
Did she deliver it herself?
And reefer is not a panacea, it is not going to generate huge tax revenues to solve all the ills of overspending and oor management. It will probably end up like alcohol and tobacco, where the social and medical costs far outweigh the tax gains generated.
If Hillbillies can do it why cant the rest?
Did a little research. The woman gave birth to the child herself and was only partially clothed herself. Passerbys called 911, EMS said she has multiple mental issues and could not answer questions about the situation. This goes to why Oregon doesnt have a street team indentifying individuals like this. Or if they do why did tjey not intervene
And why did the passerbys act when she was noticed walking barefoot pushing a cart with a baby instead of just dialing a phone That to me is the scary aspect of this And Oregon is supposed to be a Hippie state like Washington
Thanks as I appreciate the knowledge but I see your horror is the same. How can this even possibly happen.
It strikes like Kitty Genovese when she was murdered in New York City and no-one did anything. That raised a national stink but this doesn't seem to have been regarded as much more than the latest plane crash.
You have seen multiple times here where the perspective of the Rockhouse is good business means get out of these wars and, as the Scots say, 'stick to our knitting' and I don't really know what that means but it seems apropos. In any case, they say it a lot (larfs).
The Fed / state responsibilities get squishy in various things and most obviously in highways in which we will get this and you get that. I really don't regard that as too impressive but it's an example of who carries the bulk of the burden in that context insofar as it seems to shift.
I take your point with hillbillies but I look more South where they have their hands out in a big way for Fed dollars, typically for social support (I believe). I'm glad TN seems to get it right but there are many who do not and it looks like some kind of clown show overall to me.
'Many' is vague and I don't know how many means but we already saw CA and the voodoo states don't have a good rep for that either.
