The Vocalist has arrived and the basic setup is simple for getting necessary cables connected. From there it was easy to run through some preset effects patches to find how it sounds. These range from Basic Beef with a bit of reverb and delay up through Completely Berserko which maybe could be used in the next sci-fi movie in which a computer goes insane.
The device will definitely do what I want and the first move is backing off any mixer effects on the mike channel so all effects for the mike will only come from the Vocalist and mixer effects affect only the rhythm section from the looper and drum machine.
Unknown how the pitch shift operates as it's not important to me. That's something for amusement later and maybe it even turns out to be cool. The main thing is whether it delivers clean effects and is it easy to use. Both are true and this settles an absence from back in the Greece days as that was the last time I had any kind of processor for vocal.
In other research, the selling price for the laptop would cover the cost of replacing the looper. That's a major move which affects a lot of things so there will be more yap about that before anything happens and maybe nothing will happen. The RC-300 can definitely give more 'liveness' to looping so that's compelling stuff. It's a bigger expense than trading off the laptop for it so this will take some thinking.
