Of Course You're Not Prepared for Emergency

North of the border in Canada it is Emergency Preparedness Week, where citizens are encouraged to lay in emergency supplies that would last for 72 hours. Right now there are massive floods in Quebec; last year massive fires in Alberta, and people often have to fend for themselves for a couple of days.

Treehugger:  Are you prepared for an emergency?

Here's the American answer to an emergency:

1. Let Congress know your view. Now.
2. Pray.
3. Stockpile ammunition, food, water & non-perishable goods.

Ed:  that one ain't goin' make it.  Someone will shoot him before sundown.

Yep.  When he runs out of food, he will pray and then start shooting those who do have food.

That type of short-sighted fool will never last and use Robert Heinlein's "Farnham's Freehold" for the object lesson.

Where are the seeds, gardening tools, resource books ... you do know how to deliver a baby, don't you?

You better.  There is no doctor.

Humble Pie:  I don't need no doctor

Yah, yah, that's cute but you need one now so who are you going to call.  How about John Schindler since he could look at your problem and then fuckin' shoot it.  You'll like that, won't you.

From the look of things in the Rockhouse, people are doing nothing to prevent a nuke war but neither are they doing anything serious to survive one.  Most of the survivalist types are in the same category as John Schindler and you will need guns along with your seeds and whatnot so you can shoot people like Schindler if they come ... and they will come.
