Hipsters typically refer to this as 'retro' but their perspective on retrograde is limited when they dismiss alternate styles while simultaneously boosting unimaginative popsters (i.e skinny no-talent white girls who just do hip hop and call it a day).
Ed: it's just a fookin' knock-off of The Andrews Sisters!
Well, they're like The Andrews Sisters but I disagree they're knocking anyone off when they're not trying to present themselves as anyone else. They're representing swing plus they're hot.
Ed: the dancers sucked after "Swing Kids!"
Yah, they were quite middle-aged, weren't they. Even so, the vibe was cool even if a bit homogenized.
Note: relax, middle-aged people ... it only gets worse (larfs).
The Andrews Sisters were as white as you can possibly get but they still did make it happen. The observation of homogeneity doesn't always mean it's so.
Ed: The Speakeasy Three sounded like The Andrews Sisters on Quaaludes!
I'm sensing you really didn't dig them so much, my brother.
