Swaddling the Bats

We love bats because any creature which eats so many skeeters is definitely our friend.  We don't know why anyone swaddles them, however.

You never thought you would see a bat looking precious but what do you know.

These ones are baby fruit bats and they will get huge but not for a few years yet for these ones.  Maybe this is a photograph from a bat rescue and Mama had been injured in some way.

Here's a number of fruit bats out on patrol.

Fruit bats are not dangerous to us but they're much bigger than any bats we may see in North America since their wingspan may be almost six feet.  Maybe interesting to you is most of them do not use echolocation / bat sonar and they find fruit by the appearance and smell.  (WIKI:  Megabat)
