Harvey Told Katrina, We Look So Much Alike

It's reported that Winston Churchill had regretfully said during WWII, "Every man has his Coventry."

The story about that utterance is based on cracking the German's ULTRA code since that's how Churchill learned of the German plans to bomb Coventry during the Battle of Britain.  Since it was judged of high security importance to keep it secret that the code was broken, Churchill could not give an alert to Coventry ahead of time and, thus, many more people died than may have been lost otherwise.

Note:  take it easy on any weepy, weepy for this one since it did NOT happen but the story has persisted ever since that time.

George Bush had his Katrina and now Donald Trump has his Harvey but there's no nobility behind their slow and dimwitted responses since it's only been motivated both times by greed and sustained by incompetence.  It's as yet unconfirmed but it appears Trump is fiddling about with the FEMA budget to stroke it to pay for his infernal Wall and he'll go burning straight to Hell like a fighter plane stunt pilot, with vapor trails and multi-colored smoke to amuse the crowd.

There are reports also Trump asks Congress for almost eight billion for support but what happened to any FEMA budget funds in-between Katrina and now such that it's necessary to make such a plea.  It won't get paid anyway since Trump has already said he is willing to shut down the government to force funding for his Wall.

When ExxonMobil is supplying your water, you know you're already seriously screwed.

Ashley Alemayehu, spokeswoman for ExxonMobil, told CNN's Brian Todd the teams are working on a "temporary solution" to get water to residents' homes, but that there were "still a lot of steps that still need to be completed," such as water treatment.

Does this sound familiar?

Houston's mayor, meanwhile, made a public plea to the federal government: Advance money and other assistance quickly. Most of Houston is drying out, and people are starting to pile debris in front of their homes, Mayor Sylvester Turner said.

"We need immediately, right now, just for debris removal alone, anywhere between $75 million to $100 million," Turner told CNN's "New Day."

"We need housing assistance. We need an army of FEMA agents on the ground to be assisting people, not just in shelters, but (also) people who are in their homes, so we can get them financial assistance they need (so) they can start transitioning."

The rate of rescues in Harris County has slowed, but some still were happening in high-water areas Friday morning, especially in the western part, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.

Trump is a new Republican but the same old story.  It isn't possible to get more hopeless when you look for help from politicians who are altogether bereft of any sense of human empathy or compassion.

Meanwhile, Trump has called for a National Day of Prayer for Houston and that's just fucking peaches.  He's going to send thoughts and prayers just like one more social network puffball.

Zen Yogi:  who does he think he would ever pray with him when his aspirations are for murder and domination?

No-one I ever want to know, Brer Yogi.

Here's the offering from Fox News and they don't appear to be talking about the same Houston.  (Fox News:  Why Houston's prospects for recovery look good - unlike some other hurricane-battered cities)

Those are some seriously-deficient humans when their only actual interest is in trying to distance Trump from Katrina but those simple fuckwits should have realized Trump will determine if anything separates his response from that and so far he has not.  There are few who expect he will.

Sylvester Turner proved himself to be one of the people when he said he wanted to help everyone in Houston and he would personally defend any immigrants against Trump's stormtrooper ICE narks.  Meanwhile, Governor Greg Abbott has shown himself to be just the most vital thing one needs in a flood, a fucking boat anchor.  Trump is the same thing but he does it on a global scale.  Mister Turner, however, is one of us.
