"That Gigantic Bastard of a Big Texas Rat" #Poetry

She said that bastard of a rat
was at least ten inches long
Sure, any bigger than that
means it becomes Steve Tyler's song
A gigantic bastard of a rat
was trapped and piteously dying
but all creatures are God's chill'uns
and he was only trying

to survive

We can talk of peace and love
and we can chant to Mother Gaia
except there's nothing for it with a rat
save to throw it in the fire
and we can inquire and we can query
while we debate and we cajole
but still the only answer comes
get that rat in a fucking hole

At the first sign of a rat
we know what's next to come
when there's disease and pestilence
every horror of that kingdom
in which the fleas will bring the plague
and the rats bring them to you
when your philosophy means nothing
and you face that infernal ague

Where there's one rat will be many
after that they come by scores
at first they seem quite innocent
and will tell you they're just bores
who think purely of rat freedom
where they will live as they will please
and take it easy if you could
don't keep bitching about our fleas

So I stepped on that damned rat trap
and held it 'til he didn't move
I watched that little fucker die
but what kind of following groove
comes from whacking that helpless creature
and it's damn sure now quite dead
doesn't make me feel like I saved Mankind
I'm just left with an endless dread

since there are more

Zen Yogi:  is this really about rats?

Can you use a pizza as a frisbee?
