Alan:
Hi, it's Ben, the guy on the left, co-founder of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, and Head Stamper at Stamp Stampede.
The Supreme Court sided with billionaires when it ruled on Citizens United v. F.E.C., a landmark case that created Super PACs and opened the floodgates of dark money pouring into our political elections.
Over the past several weeks, ads funded by the same untraceable dark money have propped up Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch to push him through his Senate confirmation hearing. Gorsuch's support for the use of unlimited and unaccountable money in politics weakens our Constitution and the right of free speech for all people. We need a Supreme Court justice who will stand on our side.
Judge Gorsuch is the wrong choice for the Supreme Court. His support has led us to a point where accepted facts on climate change, reproductive health, immigration and many other issues are being slandered by our elected officials and the entities supporting their extreme positions. It's our job to fight back and show all of them that the Supreme Court of the United States must stand for the people, not the proliferation of wealth by the top one percent.
Corporate interests have used shadowy Super PACs to hide the puppeteers' bankrolling efforts that erode the very foundation of our democracy. There are now over 65,000 Americans who are using rubber stamps to make their voices heard by turning money into media. It's a “Petition on Steroids” because each stamped dollar is seen by 875 people.
We have shown the power of our movement at rallies, protests, town halls and every place in between -- now we can grow it person to person, through this viral act of protest.
Thank you. Your efforts make all the difference for the political revolution.
