Clear Proof of Failure of American Health Care System

A drug was reduced to a cost of $65,000 annually and consumer groups hailed it because this was a reduction from the charge of another supplier.  (CNN:  When $65,000 a year for a drug is applauded)

Unsure of average income for workers in America but call it forty grand with thirty grand take home. That worker couldn't pay for this medication even if he gives every dime he makes for two years.  There's no possible way he can ever pay for it.

Two new drugs were cleared to hit the market last week: an eczema drug that will cost $37,000 per year and one for multiple sclerosis that will cost $65,000.

The drugs drew both praise and criticism for their five-digit price tags.

Researchers and patient organizations applauded the prices, which were cheaper than similar drugs on the market.  They hoped the prices would please insurers and make the drugs more widely available.

WTF difference does it make if it pleases insurers or ruins their days.  Their business is to pay for the care and specifically not to equivocate regarding who gets it or what will be available to them.

That's the prevailing cancer within the American medical system and it doesn't exist anywhere else.

"No one should have to choose between affording a lifesaving drug and putting food on the table," said Sen. Al Franken, one of the lawmakers, speaking to the Senate on Thursday.

- CNN

Franken should sit down and shut the fuck up after he was first in line praising Obamacare and Clinton's phony plans for it.  Obamacare cemented the bullshit insurance companies in place and now America will suffer the disease until a politician (e.g. Bernie Sanders) has the balls to do something about the problem.

The French showed how to do it centuries ago.  When the rich bitch parasites get out of hand, it's pointless protesting; chop off their fuckin' heads and be done with them.

This is why I had no interest in going to Versailles since that would have revealed no riches; there would only have been the ghosts of all the people who starved because of them.

Off with their bleedin' heads.

Those are market prices not price after co pay Vivitrol is $1100 per shot $45 after insurance.
I don't see Sanders solving this issue either.
The negotiated price is key. The insurance batters it down to $100. Only the uninsured pay these ridiculous prices(oh yeah if they can't afford the insurance how can they afford the shot.)
Ask the government

Even with insurance, Yevette is paying about $100 for prescriptions although I don't know which medication(s). As you say, those without insurance have no chance and some Obamacare magic is supposed to correct that but it doesn't and it's even worse with MEDICARE although I insist the problem isn't with the concept but the abomination in the way it's been chiseled for political amusement.

Many formulary prescriptions can run $100 depending on insurance Tinker bell spends a couple hundred monthly on prescriptions.
I disagree with you on ObamaCare. I trash it as two expensive and riddled with holes. But my daughter's pay $10 per month and they have prescription care close to mine.
So presently someone with income under $20k That does not have insurance is probably to lazy or unorganized to file the paperwork to obtain the insurance as it is not cost. Since the cost of the insurance of $120 per year is substantially lower than the $600 fine the IRS would levy for not having insurance

I've never been a fan of Obamacare as my view has remained single-payer is the only way to get it done.

IRS penalties only matter if you file and anyone making under $20K probably doesn't. I haven't filed since 2008 since it's just useless paperwork down here.

Most people under $20k receive EIC so the tax return is bout $4000to $5000 so that penalty is pretty significant. But yes most of those people do file it is a sizeable paycheck for them.
Single payer is not even on the horizon so one must play with what is on the table.

I thought I had reviewed that and found there was zero reason for me to file. That may be a memory fault and there's a week to do something about it. I think on SS everything of that EIC nature goes out the window but not sure.

Wether you file or not is up to you, I don't know you situation. I was speaking in general of people under about $20k

Of course it makes me think about it but I believe I reviewed some time previously and concluded no payoff in it. May have to take another look but it will have to be quick.
