A Brief Video Explanation of How AutoTune Works and News on a Roll

AutoTune has been called the 'end of music' so here's a look at how it works and maybe it will be impressive to you that a young man delivers the information and knows well how to use the feature.  (Wimp.com: How musicians cheat with "auto-tune")

There's not much else to say about it since we would all prefer skipping the sermon on how AutoTune will be the death of us all.  If that's our biggest worry then we have had it all wrong with nuclear weapons.

There was a story about how a woman was killed by poisonous ants somewhere in South America after angry villagers thought she was part of cheating someone on a car or some such.  I wondered if that's even possible so I looked and here's an ant rogues gallery.  (Top 10 List Land:  Top 10 Deadliest Ants)

We weren't so much convinced these ants could do it until we get down to #4 with Fire Ants.  One will hurt you and we have heard of people being killed when they were swarmed by them.  A surprise winner was a Florida Harvester Ant at #3 since it can hurt you real good and deaths have been attributed to that one as well.  I had never heard of it previously, maybe because they only turn up in Florida.

There are Bull or Bulldog Ants in Australia and it looks like they're big and bad enough to eat you but the winner is most likely the Bullet Ant since they're native to South America.  The crazy cowboy fellow who lets bugs bite him was thrown to the floor by a single bite from a Bullet Ant but it's still not clear why he does it since there was another fellow maybe even centuries ago who did that and he gave us the classifications for a bug pain index.

There's a heavy penalty for living close to highways and the like due to a recently-discovered link to dementia from it due to noise and pollution.  (Science Daily:  Living near major traffic linked to higher risk of dementia)

Read the article for the detail if you like but it's probably self-evident to you.

Most of you are fairly well-insulated with likely Lotho and Doc getting themselves most removed from it.  The Rockhouse is surprisingly well-insulated even when Jacksboro Highway with four heavily-traveled lanes is only about a block from here.  Trees and underbrush, etc do a fairly good job of noise mitigation.

The extended editorial is the city makes you crazy but you knew that already too.

Here's one about sharing of medical information and many will likely hate it but the purpose isn't to inflame anyone.  (Science Daily:  Genomic data sharing is critical to improving genetic health care)

There's no need to flog the logic of it when you know it and the question is whether you will permit it.

The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) tackles these extremely complex questions in its new position statement, "Laboratory and Clinical Genomic Data Sharing is Crucial to Improving Genetic Health Care." The new position statement says, "In order to ensure that our patients receive the most informed care as possible, ACMG advocates for extensive sharing of laboratory and clinical data derived from individuals who have undergone genomic testing. Information that informs healthcare service delivery should neither be treated as intellectual property nor as a trade secret when other patients may benefit from the knowledge being widely available."

There's the pitch and you will need to decide where you stand since we can probably anticipate a storm of concerns regarding privacy, regardless of whether they're warranted.

I have another regarding the calculations of how long it will take the zombies to wipe out all of humanity but that really needs its own article.
