That Moment You Knew New Zealand Was a Bad Idea

When you see the train going across the runway as you're landing, you know your vacation experience is not going to last much longer and going to New Zealand was not such a good idea.

Gisborne Airport, New Zealand

This North Island airport is one of the few in the world that has a railway line running through its runway. Both the railway and the airport are active, so lets hope they are precise about their scheduling.

This one from Pink who we can happily report was not on that aircraft.  It gets better since the markings on the plane show it's military so visualize, if you will ...

Major Tom:  yes, sir, General Mayhem, sir.  I did get the order to scramble the fighters but, you see, there's a train crossing the runway.

(Indecipherable ranting)

Major Tom:  yes, sir, General Mayhem, sir.  A train.

(More indecipherable ranting)

Major Tom:  look at it this way, General Mayhem, sir.  Nothing ever attacks New Zealand.  Even in space alien movies, nothing goes near New Zealand.  No-one can even find it.  Take it easy.

Ed:  so then General Mayhem got torqued and put him in the space program?

Yah, sad story, wasn't it.
