Digitech Vocalist Live FX Vocal Effects

The Mystery Lady may remember a Digitech Vocalist from years ago as she had all kinds of fun using it.  She wasn't much interested in the hardware aspect of it but she made it do all kinds of incredible things.  Digitech may not even make the same model anymore as that one worked by feeding it a MIDI stream to give it a melody track and also feeding it the live vocal mike.  The Vocalist would then synthesize digital harmonies in up to four parts, definitely at least two.  She used that for "Starrider" and she absolutely killed the song.

The device I'm considering is their current Digitech Vocalist Live FX Vocal Effects and that's a cool $199.  I had a vocal unit of this nature previously but it didn't survive the Great European Safari because there was no way to pack it for the ride.  It was still working, there was just no way to carry it.

Oh joy, something else for the floor.  The image doesn't show as well as I had hoped you would be able to see the upper row of buttons is for various effects (i.e. reverb, etc).  Unknown if this is even possible to acquire but it looks like the solution ... other than a winged angel flying down to bless me with an actual singing voice.  I have no idea what a SUPER-VOCAL does but that sounds impressive right off the top.

As to any valid musical purpose, there is one Sennheiser stage mike running straight into the mixer.  You can't get that dry unless you drag a camel across the Sahara.  The camel will be fine but you will be desiccated.  The range of buttons across the top will give the flexibility to dial this thing to give some beef to the vocal without making it into a cartoon.

I remember him calling you Suzy Parker too. Those were some special moments!

This gadget offers a similar kind of coolness and something you didn't like about the original was if the effect was too pronounced but this one seems to have considerable flexibility. You can even dial the gender of the harmonizer. Well! The purpose really isn't for tricks but if it can do it then how can I not play with it!

One of my biggest musical regrets is that I cannot bring to the times we were recording what I know now about doing it. That's not a crying in yer beer thing as it's kind of a good sadness in that we could ever do it at all. It's only been a few days since I listened to a couple of recordings you did from that time ("Crystal Ship" and "Don't Let the Sun" - still killer!)
