He's Max Lynx and he is NOT someone's pet. When I first saw him, I was getting annoyed but he's from a zoo and he's part of their presentation to understand the endangerment for wild animals.
A lynx will show up in Germany sometimes and, sure as hell, some loon hunter will go out to shoot it. There will be hell to pay if he's caught as other Germans get livid over it. The video will show part of the reason for their fury.
The animal is big enough to seriously hurt you but this one doesn't want to hurt anyone.
Max Lynx, the educational animal ambassador takes a moment to get some good scratchin' before he sits down for his meal. He was born at a zoo in May 2011. He's not completely domesticated but not wild either. He educates the public on the endangered/threatened (in lower 48 states) Canada Lynx in hopes that people will be driven to conserve our environment and protect our wildlife. Technically, they are listed as "threatened" but in my state of NY they are considered "extirpated." However, it's legal to trap these beautiful animals in Canada and Alaska.
He is NOT declawed. During the winter he weighs 40 pounds and summer about 34. He has about 4 inches of fur in this video which makes him look fat....I mean fluffy!
This video is NOT taken in my home. Max has his own indoor and outdoor housing.
