Cadillac Man instigated the call and Lotho doubted it would happen but the bet is won because I did it a second time and got through to a living breathing human.
As you predicted, Colin heard my circumstances and he backed-out the charges.
Yes, I told him I deeply appreciated and I'm sure he knew I meant it.
I really thought the account was bounce-proof as, in my life, I have bounced very, very few checks. I'm still not entirely sure how it happened since declining a debit should result in an overdraft charge even if you do it at an ATM but that doesn't happen whereas something of that nature happened here and the charges came.
Yah, so I don't get it but I don't do bank things. That's why I got into computers (larfs).
Ed: you worked in a bank for ten years!
Yah, I did. What's your point??
I can't play poker worth a damn but I can bluff. The boss asked if I wanted to install the z/OS operating system and I didn't see the need to tell him I had not done that before. That stunt is how I made my bones there because it was smooth like buttah.
The win on the bet was whether the bank would make things right and they did. That's hardly the same as a win with the right pony at Latonia but it counts big down here in the Po' House.
Thanks Cadillac Man and Lotho for a bit of a kick in the ass to even try it since my feeling was to walk away from it and avoid the agita since me guttywuts just don't need that.
That segues to the update on Day 12 of the Ten-Day-Monster.
Ed: it did?
It did now. The Ten-Day-Monster is now down to the status of the drunkie who doesn't know it's time to go home at the end of a party. That completes the saga of the Travails of the Ten-Day-Monster and it's kind of a bitch as colds go but the impact seemed about the same with Yevette plus additional lung difficulties, etc, etc. I think the forecast is probably generic and the reason I did it is the surprise at how infectious that little bastard was.
Yesterday Yevette was concerned about it going on for too long for both of us and she was considering seeing a doctor but my immediate reaction was, noooooo, don't do it. Antibiotics will do nothing against a virus and there is zero sign of infection. There's nothing for it but to suck it up and enjoy the residuals because eventually that drunkie will go home.

Not sure how you win since both CM and I said they would reverse the charges. We differed on what level it would be. I thought you thought the call would be a waste of time
The bet I saw was that I probably would not do it so I'm pleased to have at least done that much.
Then in fact you do win bith in action and results.
PayPal runs your debit card as a credit card So unless it has a hold it will approve your transaction.
BofA will approve a debit transaction if it is close and then charge a fee for the account going negative. Bof A is very good at keeping your account balance accurate as thier system debits in real time without the lag of most regional banks
I don't know if you take an overdraft bust for trying to withdraw funds which are not there or if it simply declines and does nothing more. I'm not sure but I don't think I have ever tried that.
I see a process problem insofar as PayPal should have done an inquiry to determine if the funds existed to back the purchase. That goes back to the first part as to whether that would still go down as an overdraft bust. That aspect is unclear.
As to real-time updates, something comical out at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut is the gamblers knew the online systems went offline for maintenance at such and such a time for Citizens Bank. They would pull as much money as they could during that time since the debit couldn't be validated. I assume they did that by going to different ATMs and I'm sure there were many in that outfit.
