"Swing Heil 9/10" - Silas Scarborough (audio)

"Swing Heil 9/10" is available now on the Ride the Dragon podcast and it's free.  The song is dedicated to the Swing Kids of Germany who resisted the NAZIs with no more than music and dance.

Some say you can't stand up to NAZIs without guns.  Well, they did.

(Ed:  they also got annihilated)

Yes but not entirely.  They would have been entirely destroyed if not for the physical war against Hitler but they stood their ground until that help came.  A Swing Kids organization exists to this day.  The movie is highly-mixed except for some spectacular dance scenes with outstanding music.  Despite the uneven telling, the story is immensely powerful and it affected me quite some time ago.

There was never anything I thought I could say which would be respectful enough but this one is getting along that way.

Ordinarily it's not so good to prejudice the jury but the song takes too long for the vocal to come into it.  The song starts popping much more on the theme when the vocal comes.  It works much more with the guitar rather than first one and then the other.

(Ed:  what does that mean?)

You know what it means.  Play it again, Sam.  This version stands until that happens but I know already I will do it.
