Kim Davis is the clerk who won't give marriage licenses to gay people. She's made that name for herself and has received a lot of publicity, most likely more than she has received in all the rest of her life. There's a good chance she's addicted to it as she's been married three or four times so she was a bit of a mess already anyway.
If someone doesn't talk to her and get her to wise up, likely her current old man is going to get fed-up with being a golf widower to her newfound celebrity. There doesn't seem any way this can go well for her. If she stands on the position then she goes to jail and gets impeached out of the position.
Note: my understanding is she holds an elected position and can thus only be impeached out of it. Unclear.
It costs her nothing if she backs down beyond some hooting on Twitter but that stuff is meaningless. There would likely be hurtful stuff in it and ignoring it is her best move.
There is no defense here of refusal to issue marriage licenses but I don't need to see her destroy herself standing on a position which doesn't even mean anything anymore. To destroy yourself for any reason except to save your family from a fire doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
So, it'd be swell if someone spoke to her and helped her understand what she is doing will not help anyone and there's no chance it will undo a Supreme Court ruling or change law in some other way. What she doesn't seem to understand at all is how much damage she is doing to herself and likely her family.
