After the endless moronic soundbites from politicians, particularly the Tea Party, Americans have been inured to their endless stupidity and have decided it's a waste of time explaining anything to them. (New Yorker: Many in Nation Tired of Explaining Things to Idiots)
Andy Borowitz wrote the article and who knows how much satire he intended in it but the point is valid as people are so tired of banning books and every other type of political intrusion attempted by people too stupid to know how stupid they really are.
A similar approach has been taken with Search for Ithaka as previously there had been some measure of diluting content so idiots would understand it. However, idiots still didn't understand it and people who are smart enough to know how stupid they are become alienated by the patronizing tone. This approach has been working well and readership last month was 50% higher than the times during which I thought the blog was being read the most (e.g. during the Greece to Scotland scoot).
(Ed: elitist pig)
Not at all, if intelligence does not bestow humility, it gives nothing much at all. All my life I've known there are many, many people more intelligent than I and, sure, I would like to be the King Einstein ... but I don't think I will grow to the height of my ol' Dad (i.e. 6'2") either ... likely it has some bearing my ol' Mother was 5'2" ... just maybe.
(Ed: you show no humility toward stupid people)
No and why should I. Smart people don't disrespect me whereas stupid people rarely do anything else. Let's talk about kids need to pray one more time ... please.
The material is somewhat coarse at times as it's my belief it's an excellent style for communication because it's precise, immediate, and effective. Some may find it offensive but denying the truth of it would be pointless. Everything here is true ... except for the bits which are complete crap but you will be able to differentiate the two ... you're not stupid.
Along this same theme which is decidedly non-satirical is another one in which a survey showed interest in atheism is surging due to Ted Cruz and his endless preaching. (New Yorker: Cruz’s Constant References to Jesus Drive Millions to Atheism)
What do you know, Andy Borowitz wrote this one as well and the satire is more apparent but it's still a fair point as the best argument against Christianity is the way Americans, particularly ones like Ted Cruz, practice it.
