Joaquin Gustav at Cat Boucher's Art MusikCircus

Joaquin Gustav came back for his Friday night show at Cat Boucher's Art MusikCircus and he really outdid himself.  He has such a lovely and delicate style of play and yet he picks notes at incredible speeds when a song calls for it.  I've loved Joaquin's music for quite a few years and, with any luck at all, will enjoy it for quite a few more as he has certainly established himself as one of the long-term players in Second Life.

I had never seen Joaquin with dreadlocks before!  The expression on his face looks so serious but he delivers his set so gently that it seems he must be smiling all the while as that's very much what he brings to anyone who hears it.  One can hear a quite charming humility in him and that makes his music all the more compelling.

Ordinarily, Joaquin plays for an hour and then Voodoo Shilton plays for the second hour but Voodoo had a real-life concert last night so Joaquin was encouraged to continue with multiple cries for Encore!  Encore!  Encore!

After having played an hour of Latin songs with multiple tango tunes, he continued into the next hour by playing pop songs in his Latin style.  He played such songs as "Superstition," and "All Across the Universe," and you might not envision them in a Latin style but he delivers them beautifully.  He continued with this music for yet another half hour!

One of the songs that was particularly special to me was You Are the Sunshine of My Life and here Cat and I are dancing with each other as he sang:

Cat is very much the sunshine of my life and she is the one who has inspired me so much with krautrock and her knowledge of German music in general.  A woman one can love and from whom one can also learn is a treasure beyond words and Cat is both.
