Civil Discourse | The Sanders Institute

Sanders Institute

Alan,

Polarizing hostile discourse will only breed more division while, at the same time, making the real debate over issues less likely.

The Sanders Institute is built on three primary tenets.

We believe that a true democracy requires an informed electorate; we must consider bold, progressive solutions to the important issues that our nation faces; and as we debate our different points of view we must do so in a civil way.

James Zogby, recently elected the Chair of the Board for The Sanders Institute, wrote an opinion piece on Civil Discourse and we wanted to make sure that you had the chance to read it.

The article speaks to the concerns about the harsh and angry rhetoric being used when opposing views meet—between Republicans and Democrats, the left and the right, within parties and among individuals.

Thank you for staying engaged,

The Sanders Institute
