Silas Passes on Liberalism

Noam Chomsky, the official Smartest Guy in the World, has said almost exactly what I've said about the Trump Presidency insofar as there may be some hope for a more sensible relationship with Russia and that Trump's environmental policy is a disaster.  (RT:  Noam Chomsky discusses Trump victory he predicted 6 years ago)

That's a pass for the Silas and, yep, this is the real Left as opposed to the poser Left in the social network neoliberals whom we regard much like the rats you tried to run over with your car near the railroad tracks downtown but that may be like when you jumped in the water with a flashlight when it seemed a good way to catch fish.

Tip:  you did not catch any fish or at least not that night.  I don't know if you ever ran over any rats ... or neoliberals, for that matter.

For a brief review to see if you get it yet on liberals, pick the liberal out of this line-up:

Bill Clinton, George Bush, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton

Tick ... tick ... tick ...

Time's up ... trick question ... there are no liberals in that line-up; the Left is not here.

The Left is driven by political philosophy which goes back centuries and we can trace it if you like.  Lately we have neoliberals who think their wisdom gives more credence to their positions than the sum total of liberal thinking going back all those years.  And this is why the Left doesn't give a fuck what neoliberals think.

The Left  is decidedly anti-war, anti-torture, and anti-CIA death camps.

The Left opposes any aspect of civil intrusion regardless of whether the state says it's for cause unless it comes with a signed order from a judge.

The Left opposes preferential treatment for corporate interests.

There's point after point but there's no need to list them all since those are likely the majors and neoliberals don't accept any of them as constraining.

"Mr. Wilson (i.e. Woodrow Wilson) bores me with his Fourteen Points; why, God Almighty has only Ten!" - Georges Clemenceau

Note:  Clemenceau bore no resemblance to neoliberals.

Of the Left I know, it was unanimous and no-one voted for Clinton.  It had little to do with Comey since the disenchantment had been growing throughout her campaign.

Here's one of the most crashing failures from Trump so far in that he said, "Settlements in the Occupied Territories shouldn't be an impediment to peace."

No chance of a problem in that.  This only looks like Fascism but Netanyahu and the GOP tell us it's something else.

One possibility which exists in Germany but not in America is an option on the ballot which says, in effect, this election is shit.  The purpose is twofold insofar as it registers dissent and it prevents your vote from being directed anywhere without your permission.  Something the flag wavers ignore altogether is how many Americans regard the elections as shit (i.e. about 50% of eligible voters).

Deliberate ignorance of that population is likely why the election polls didn't mean much and the pundit commentaries are all the more absurd in retrospect.  If that dissent marker exists on the ballot then it becomes impossible to ignore.
