Many, me among them, regard Randy Rhoads as one of the greatest axemen who ever walked the Earth. No need for more words as his play says it much better. Unknown why the video title says this is live when it's obviously not. It dayum sure slams, tho. This was way back while Ozzy looked in reasonable control of things. Yah, WAY back (larfs).
The way Rhoads mixes his shredding with the lyrical side of play is the ultimate in high-speed play and it achieves a much better result than shredding start to finish which only gets annoying after a while.
If you further doubt my humility, consider I would fall the the ground as a quivering blob of useless self-adoration if I could play in this way. I like the way I play but to compare it to this is just a bunch of bloody rubbish. This is not at all self-abuse since I truly like what I play and the only driving thought is always to do it better. One thing I learned way back is don't compare yourself to Hendrix as you will never make it.
(Ed: why not?)
I'm not Hendrix and only one man was.
My belief all along is it's not important to play like Hendrix but it's hugely important to think like he did, always at the outer edge of the creative Universe.
Don't compare ... think!
Note: we know the tragedy of what came but there's no need to repeat it.
