They call it a balloon glow when they get many balloons together at once and all of them light their burners at once. The balloon starts glowing and all its colors show so dramatically against the dark sky.
For this kind of photography, you don't even need to be that good at it. Just show up and point the camera anywhere. Every shot will amaze.
The cold may also amaze and it was damn cold on this night. There was no way to operate the camera or adjust the lens while wearing gloves. The result of that was, even after driving half an hour to get home, my hands were still not really all that happy with life. Damn cold.
Sure they love to talk about these gigantic balloons and you can see the outlines of yet more people beyond the light from the burner.
Maybe they alternate at first as they get their balloons set as they like.
And then they light the park. This was around the reservoir in Eden Park, Cincinnati, 1995
