Don't Worry - The Cinnamon Cops Are on the Job

Perhaps you thought there was no danger in cinnamon, that it is just a spice that can be added to apple pies and all manner of things to make them taste like, well, cinnamon.

But there is more ...

So much more.

Cinnamon contains a substance called coumarin and they say it may cause liver damage.  The concern is justified as all of us have seen someone fall over dead after eating an apple pie ... well, some of us have ... well, it must have happened somewhere because it's dangerous, damnit.  We need rules.

But, not to worry, the European Union is there protecting you from a coumarin overdose.  (AP:  Danish cinnamon rolls too spicy for EU rules)

Damn those cinnamon rolls.  Damn them!

This article is because American bureaucrats are accused, with ample evidence, of being the worst and the most stupid in the world.  However, there is clearly strong competition from the EU.

Gone are the days when we had dictators like Idi Amin who would eat people they didn't like.  That's when politics was entertaining.  We don't know if he died from excessive coumarin.  Sigh.

Thanks again to Lotho for the tip on the story.
