Where Did the Pentagon 'Lose' Six Trillion Dollars

Let's start with the pitifully weak debunking by Scott Paltrow, obvious apologist and professional Pentagon pattycake.

By SCOT J. PALTROW, Mon Nov 18, 2013

In its investigation, Reuters has found that the Pentagon is largely incapable of keeping track of its vast stores of weapons, ammunition and other supplies; thus it continues to spend money on new supplies it doesn't need and on storing others long out of date. It has amassed a backlog of more than half a trillion dollars in unaudited contracts with outside vendors; how much of that money paid for actual goods and services delivered isn't known. And it repeatedly falls prey to fraud and theft that can go undiscovered for years, often eventually detected by external law enforcement agencies.

The consequences aren't only financial; bad bookkeeping can affect the nation's defense. In one example of many, the Army lost track of $5.8 billion of supplies between 2003 and 2011 as it shuffled equipment between reserve and regular units. Affected units "may experience equipment shortages that could hinder their ability to train soldiers and respond to emergencies," the Pentagon inspector general said in a September 2012 report.

Because of its persistent inability to tally its accounts, the Pentagon is the only federal agency that has not complied with a law that requires annual audits of all government departments. That means that the $8.5 trillion in taxpayer money doled out by Congress to the Pentagon since 1996, the first year it was supposed to be audited, has never been accounted for. That sum exceeds the value of China's economic output last year.

So there's the simplistic crap being posted as the answer and we're supposed to believe the problem has existed for fifty years and nothing was ever done about it nor questioned about it.  That may even be true given poltroons like Paltrow running cover for them, for a nominal sum, I'm sure.  The Pentagon has more games than Parker Brothers and they need them because Pentagon gravy lickers consume more than every other aspect of the budget combined.  It's nothing but a gigantic cancerous wormhole of self-righteousness, military incompetence, and general officer cowardice.  They talk big but they never leave their air-conditioned offices and their biggest risk is paper cuts.

As you see from the symp's article date, it's just boiler plate crap which is rolled out every time.  If any other organization in Washington (e.g. VA) showed such glaring and ongoing budgetary incompetence, it would be closed down tomorrow for fraud.  Instead they just roll out the same patsy with the same excuse, oh, it was just some accounting errors.  Never you mind, move along, move along.

Moreover, Paltrow gives us 'they did spend it and the money wasn't lost' and of course they spent it, you driveling lapdog, the question is how they spent it and that just goes back to $600 for an aircraft toilet seat or some ridiculous bullshit of that nature.  It's fraud, plain and simple.

They also use the same corporation / vendor collusion to inflate prices used by CEOs and their minions across America.  The price charged by the vendor is ridiculously-inflated over retail to generate the pork barrel invoices for Congress and then the graft slides under the table relative to the real selling price so the General can live in the luxurious home he so obviously deserves but cheap ass voters or shareholders won't buy him.

Here's a response which is somewhat more reasoned in PBS:  Accounting fraud is business as usual at the Pentagon, Reuters reports.

Fair enough.  After fifty years without change, it's definitely business as usual.  Any long-term pattern of double-dealing and corruption is fair game for RICO prosecution for organized crime as the Pentagon remains the fattest car on the Washingtonian gravy train and they can waste money faster than a meth addict in a toy store.

America had reduced military spending in part to recover from the wild spending for the Vietnam War but Reagan jacked those levels up to just about the same as Vietnam and that didn't change much until Bush and Obama jacked them significantly higher up to present day.

Who the fuck do they think will pay for it since no-one has so far.  They only keep piling the bill higher on their Pink Cheerleader VISA card.

Congress grills the holy fuck out of so much as spending a dime on killing Zika mosquitos and so far doesn't appear to have spent anything yet they show nothing more than Tijuana round heels when the Pentagon wants something.

Zika is yet one more thing which grew while Washington slept and presumably they thought, well, fuck it, mosquitos only keep people in Asia or something equally mindless of that nature.  It never occurred to those short-sighted morons that might come here and now pregnant women are advised not to enter Miami Beach.  No Muslim terrorist ever accomplished so much and still Congress does nothing.

They don't question the six trillion either.

As I've said previously, the only solution for Washington is to sink it under the ocean and wait until the bubbles stop coming up.  Then there will be peace because the only organism in the world more deadly than mosquitos is Americans when they're told a load of bullshit by the President as we have been for decades.
