There has been much proclamation of Barack Obama as the Best President America has ever had and this is a prime example of neo-liberals getting so far off the tracks they can't even see the train anymore.
We admire Obama because he's witty, funny, brilliant but he's still done some wretchedly stupid things, particularly in the Middle East and Afghanistan / Pakistan. Based on these substantial demerits, we cannot consider him in the range of America's best Presidents with the only ones representing the last century being FDR and Eisenhower. There were demerits to those ones as well but none wreaked the havoc we have seen in the Middle East. FDR brought, at least for a time, havoc to an end and Eisenhower didn't start any more of that so Obama owns that aspect alone.
We know many of our positions of late really get people furious enough to smoke me but we can't help misconceptions of reality. Terrorists have had hardly any impact on America except that which Washington did in response to them. That response was parlayed into the greatest threat since the Black Death killed half or a third of the world's population ... but this time it was complete crap.
The Middle East has been devastated and this is passed off in Washington speak as 'stabilized' (i.e. reduced to rubble). Parasites like Halliburton rush to the smell of smoke to suck up reconstruction dollars while at the same time a bridge collapses in West Virginia (e.g. this weekend).
The Middle East remains a burning disaster and continuing it only propagates the tragedy of starting it under false testimony from the outset. Neither Obama nor Bush will ever qualify for Best Presidents after this human and military fiasco. The best thing we can say for Obama is, well, at least the stock market didn't crash.
Side-note: hat tip to Nigel Farage for tanking Britain. Nice job of helpful insurrection there.
(Ed: what about the Affordable Care Act?)
I can't afford it. Any questions?
(Ed: Hillary Clinton will fix that!)
Yah, Obama said that too. Neo-liberals always say that but it still never happens. Besides, institutionalizing the corruption of corporate insurance is a disgrace at the foundation. It's the most expensive possible way to implement an inept solution which routinely overrides medical recommendations. My problem started with an insurance company so sending me back to one is hardly a benefit.
Note: Liberty Mutual canceled my insurance two weeks after shoulder replacement surgery in 2009. I have not had insurance since.
