They are fundamentalist Muslims and they have violent opposition to anyone of any other faith. They mean to impose sharia law throughout Nigeria and they reject any engagement with the West. However, the Nigerian government is accused by Amnesty International of abusing nine hundred and fifty Boko Haram militants in prison and they died there in only the first half of 2013.
A little more than half of the population of Nigeria is Sunni Muslim and the second largest group is Christian. Sharia law was made legal in northern parts of Nigeria and this is when things started for the current Boko Haram campaign. It has a much longer history than that.
So you make the decision these Boko Haram are some vile bastards. Now what. Go in there and kill them?
