Fran Parkin Brings More Grooves to Cat's Art MusikCircus

Fran Parkin sounds a little shy when he talks but not at all when he sings.  He has a beautiful voice and, get this, he has that sexy French accent.  I guess that won't impress you so much if a Frenchman has ever walked off with your girlfriend but after hearing Fran you will know how it could happen.

Fran is playing multiple instruments to make his sound and that means a looper but that's fine as he knows exactly what he is doing.  In fact, he uses quite a lot of electronics as I'm not sure what he uses for his voice at times but it's a mystical effect and sounds very good.  The key to anything like that is don't use it too much and he doesn't.  He has a lot of colors he can use and he comes up with different mixes for each song.

A lot of times going off in search of a groove will be a blues beat and that's good as it works well.  Fran takes it beyond and he's using different beats for what he builds.  This gives each song a different feel but they still hold together in a flow with each other.

This was all very cool as Fran played at the MusikCircus years ago but then he disappeared.  We really don't know what happened to him but now he's back and he's picking up gigs again around Second Life.  I had never heard him before and after hearing him I have no doubt he will do well.  His work is original and, most of all, it's recognizable as his style.  You get the feel for it as he goes along.  He won't try to impress or dazzle you but he will bring you into his groove and it's a good one.

You can find more about Fran on MySpace or Fran on SoundCloud

You can join  Cat's Art MusikCircus on Facebook and hear about events when they get scheduled plus other information about performers and events at the MusikCircus.

When I'm talking about a vibe, it's not the same one you get when you're on the porch shucking peanuts and drinking beer!
