And the Shutdown Beat Goes On

In the contest between the Worst President in Recent Memory and the Worst Speaker of the House of All Time, the results play out in the news or they would if there were any results to report beyond the predictable Washingtonian shadowboxing.

Boehner stands up in front of a roomful of American flags while he gives a sanctimonious speech about how he is not pulling this stunt for himself, he is doing it for the children and the grandchildren.  That certainly explains why he put eight hundred thousand families out of work with the government shutdown, doesn't it.

Obama is blaming it on the Republicans and this is a rare example of him actually speaking the truth about something.  Take good note of it as Obama left truth behind years ago and it's not likely you will see another example of it.

Something that hasn't received a lot of attention is that at least one U.S. state is actively working toward defending itself against the federal government.  Governor Jerry Brown of California is pushing legislation to deny enforcement of the NDAA (National Defense Authorisation Act) which permits the feds imprisoning any American on an unlimited basis much like is currently being done in Guantanamo.

Things Which Obama Made Better

Affordable Care Act
Military Spending (the reductions are trivial relative to the overall budget but they were significant relative to the spending of Bush 2.0)

Things Obama Said He Would Make Better But Did Nothing

Guantanamo
Afghanistan, particularly regarding opium / heroin production
Bank corruption

Things Obama has Made Worse

NDAA
NSA
Foreign Policy
- Pakistan
- Libya

Things Boehner Has Made Better

Nothing

Things Boehner Said He Would Make Better But Accomplished Nothing

Affordable Care Act

Things Which Boehner Has Made Worse

Government Spending, most particularly with regard to the military and NSA, etc
Bank corruption (through inaction)

In short, both of these bastards are as phony as the worst of the carpetbaggers or snake oil salesmen.
