Here's an example of looping that goes far beyond slapping a few chords together and then wailing for an hour and a half. I've written about Voodoo Shilton multiple times and the video is something he's recorded recently. You can see him playing his udu and I love this instrument! What he's added this time is something I haven't heard him do before as he's got himself a synth and now his music gets wider yet again. This type of musical exploration and inquisitiveness is the finest kind of expression of what music is and what it can be.
